The main lobby of the school was very pretty. I could imagine what the rest of the school looked like. I walked up to the front desk, where a very pretty, red-haired African-American girl was reading Seventeen magazine. She looked up as I approached.
"Hi. It's my first day for the Boston Spy School. I don't really know where to go. I wasn't told."
"Amora Wood?" the girl asked. I nodded. She pointed me down the hall to my left and wished me good luck. I got to the end of the hall and stopped. This was definitely not part of what I had imagined. Although, now that I thought it through, it made sense that they would have security.
"Paperwork, please, Ms. Wood," said the most buff guy I'd ever seen. And I'd seen a lot of very buff guys. I handed him my papers. His eyes scanned the paper before he looked back up at me. "All right. Take these papers and go to John up there, Ms. Wood."
"Thanks," I said. The next guy, John, had me go through a security checkpoint, and then a woman patted me down. After that, I was apparently free to go into the school. I expected it to take longer than that.
I walked up a flight of stairs to a long hallway that was painted bright red. Well then, I thought, I guess they like color here. It's one way to stand out. I decided that I should probably figure out where everybody was.
